ipw3945 + wpa_supplicant/netmanager problems

I can connect to my base station no problem and ping stuff when just running the net.eth1 init script, and the local access points are listed no problem under the networkmanager applet, but when I try to connect using the applet, the icon spins a bit and it dies out and I end up with no connection ...

Nope, it dosen't. I have been using -t efs. It says on the CD that it's EFS. It will work similar to mounting a Solaris CD under linux. I'll start researching that area too. There will probably be more info on that.

Partitioned CDs?

Ok, so I'm installing IRIX on a workstation, and the CD that IRIX comes on has three partitions and a normal partition table. I need to mount the data partition and share it over NFS so that my workstation can boot from it, since it dosen't have a CD drive in it.

So, in a nutshell, how would I ...

Very strange problem with Courier-IMAP+vpopmail

So, my mail system was working fine before a power failure hit, but once I started my machine back up, the mail system was completely borked. When I try to log in, I get bad password from both Mail.app, and IMP. My configs are just fine, "printf "{user here}@{domain here}\0{password here}\0asdfaasdf ...

Well, the idea is mainly for my site (another free e-mail site) and I really dislike all of the mysql auth with postfix/exim/qmail, they've never worked. So I figured I'd just roll my own. I also figured that someone else might find it interesting, that's why I'm releasing it. Who knows, it's just ...

Writing an email server that delivers to a SQL database

As the title says, I am thinking of writing a simple mail server that delivers user's email to a SQL database. I am going to write this in Java for portability and security. I'm going to start out with a simple SMTP server, and then add a POP3 and then an IMAP server. Eventually, I hope to impliment ...

Keyboard problem on an Ultra 5, Just upgraded to 2.6.4

I just upgraded to kernel 2.6.4, and for some strange reason when I boot the new kernel, the keymap is completely messed up. When I type "z", I get "[2~", when I type "x" I get an "=", when I tap caps lock, I get a "t". I am using a Type 6 keyboard. Thanks in advance.

Short response:
RTFM, it's in the Gentoo-PPC FAQ.

More helpful response:
Try QUIK. I've never used it myself, but it's suposed to be really hard to set up, but it'll do the job.

Hotplug+iPod+gtkPod Possible?

I was wondering, is it possible to start gtkpod start when I plug my iPod, ala Windows? You'd have to pass the Xserver as an argument, and write a script to execute when the iPod is plugged in.

Where can I get the PPC KDE/Gnome livecd?

These seem to have disapeared off the internet. It is very important that I get a copy, I need to temporarily get all of the computers in our school's computer lab to run linux for a programming class :). So it would be really handy if you could point me to a url of the ISO. Thanks!

OpenGL and EPIA Motherboard

What would I go about doing to get OpenGL to work with my Epia v motherboard. I get stuff like "extention GLX missing on display :0.0" and "SDL_SetVideoMode failed: Couldn't find matching GLX visual."

Oh yeah, and I don't need 3D acceleration.

Migrating to a new computer

I'm thinking of getting a new computer in the near future, and I was wondering what would be a good way to move my settings and apps and such over. The only problem is that my current computer is a P4 1.8 GHz machine, and the new one would be an Athlon 3200+ based system. Any ideas?

Wierd Horizontal Jiggling AND Dude, wheres my framebuffer?

Whenever I run X or framebuffers for that matter at a resolution above 640x480 resolution on my EPIA-V based computer, the picture sorta fuzzes and blurs and Jiggles horizontally. What's going on?

Also, theres no /dev/fb0. I enabled it in kernel config. Whats going on there?

Bootsplash features (Mngs, progress bar, and silent mode)

Ok, so there has been much talk about the v3 bootsplash features, so here is a dedicated thread.

So, my question is what is involved in getting Silent Mode working? I have the line on the kernel config, I have patched the system with http://www.aichler.net/gentoo/bootsplash/. What could be ...
