OK, a bump and an update. I answered some of the questions myself. I appreas that xorg 6.8.2 now includes the via driver which I have installed and confirmed. I got the kernel module built and loaded and it detects the hardware correctly. X loads the driver fine but skips the XvMC stuff

. I have tried for hours and have yet to figure out why. The only possible solution is to continue to use the patched ebuild from this thread but I have tried that and MythTV fails to compile with that one

. At any rate xine is dropping 2 out of 3 frames and I have no new extensions available. It appears DRI starts correctly but glxinfo says It's not direct rendering? I'm attaching my xorg.log, dmesg, and glxinfo. I hope someone knows how to help!
