Gentoo as only OS on old world G3

Is it possible to have Gentoo as the only OS on an Old World beige G3 333?

Try QUIK. I've never used it myself, but it's suposed to be really hard to set up, but it'll do the job.

ah, "read the 'free' manual"

i've read a bit on quik, seems what i need BUT, like a jackass I installed Gentoo with no HFS partitions, so if i need to reboot i'm f@#$'d, right? The install finished last nite and am at the point where i have to change the root passwd..would it be best to try to setup quik now and hope that it works?

As far as I understand so for you HAVE TO HAVE a HFS partition. Could be wrong have only been using a Mac for 2 weeks. Still learning.

As mencioned in the Gentoo manual, you have to have a bootstrap partition that contains the information needed about the system or systems that you have installed.

For ppc:
Partition NewWorld Partition OldWorld Filesystem Size Description
/dev/hda1 (Not needed) (bootstrap) 800k Apple_Bootstrap
/dev/hda2 /dev/hda1 (swap) 512M Swap partition
/dev/hda3 /dev/hda2 ext3 Rest of the disk Root partition
