maybe it is driver issue, as i have 7.1.1 Xorg and same drivers as KrissN
and i cannot select anything in gnome, when i start beryl, also, new windows does not open when launch them, but you can run console, and write in it killall beryl to get back
i got away from gcc compile errors only with updating kernel from 2.6.13-r5 to 2.6.14-r5, before upgrade i allways had a problems with compiling - random errors here and there...
there was a topic where ppl was talinkg about problems with compiling (under heavy compiling/load computer fails ...
i had diferent error and lockups (regitry dump etc.) while compiling certain packages like glibc, it said that im missing something or just SIGSERV 11 (or something like that)
so all i did was set my RAM from DRR400 to DDR266 compile and set back to DDR400 (my ram is defective Kingston. one module ...
DFI LP UT Ultra-D here are already some good replies about that mobo. i will just add, that im using bad (not working correctly some time) and cannot compile binutils and gcc for these occasions i just set it from DRR400 (default is DDR333 for these modules) to DDR266 :roll:

i get 75FPS on that and i got DVI thats all so, there are no good reason te believe in it, better post ur UT ET or whatever game fps
this was second try of love sources for me, first try was unsuccessful after that i worked only on vanilla or gentoo-dev-sources month ago emerged nitro, but never compiled ;)
these sources works for me "as is"
ofcourse i had to straighten my hands a bit by seting HID device timer :)
