[SOLVED] Beryl go slow/lockup

  • Quote

Post by sanman » Tue May 01, 2007 5:30 pm

Since upgrading xorg to 7.2 and xorg-server to 1.2.0-r3 my Beryl either locks up or goes *VERY* slow.

I'm unable to click on anything in gnome panel.

This worked perfectly prior to the upgrade, very stable.

Recompiling nvidia-drivers, beryl etc. has no effect... :-(

Open a shell from within your X session and run `glxinfo`. Check to see that direct rendering is enabled. Also, run `eselect opengl list` and make sure you're using the nvidia glx drivers.

Looks like I'm having the same problem with KDE.

The whole desktop seems to be time-outing on something. Kicker is hardly usable (response appears several seconds after the click), the Alt+Tab switch also not working. Some other effects apparently work, for ex. the desktop cube works like normal. Looks like a WM issue perhaps?

I use GeForce Go 7900 on nvidia-drivers-9755-r1, XOrg 7.2, xorg-server-1.2.0-r3, KDE 3.5.6. Direct rendering enabled and working.

maybe it is driver issue, as i have 7.1.1 Xorg and same drivers as KrissN

and i cannot select anything in gnome, when i start beryl, also, new windows does not open when launch them, but you can run console, and write in it killall beryl to get back
umm... amd64 then...

I did a rebuild of xorg-server and that solved my problems.

The problem was probaly you had x11 opengl selected. When you emerge xorg-server it switches to x11 opengl and doesn't switch back to nvidia or ati opengl when it is finished.
