I thought 3.4.5 was current gcc on amd64, or is that only ~amd64?

anyhow it appears to have a problem with libpangoxft, so perhaps try re-emerging/upgrading pango? Can't see why gcc should depend on that though... In fact mine doesn't, but maybe there's some crazy use flag out there ;)

failing that, post your emerge --info and I'll take a closer look if I get the chance.

i got away from gcc compile errors only with updating kernel from 2.6.13-r5 to 2.6.14-r5, before upgrade i allways had a problems with compiling - random errors here and there...

there was a topic where ppl was talinkg about problems with compiling (under heavy compiling/load computer fails) someting with random...

hope that helps
umm... amd64 then...

It's a little older, but this may help. I'm in the same boat and rowing hard. Broke my work laptop X11. Not a GoodThing(tm) The last panel suggests a full recompile of gdm and all it's dependencies.

Code: Select all

Adding gdm to the emerge list worked. I just saw the libraries created.

woot!
