Thanks, fb
I added the ** to the package.keywords and it's emerging now...
We'll see what comes out of it.

It might be a question for a different forum but...

Thanks fb for your response.

I added

=x11-drivers/xf86-video-nouveau-9999 ~ppc
=x11-base/nouveau-drm-99999999 ~ppc

to /etc/portage/package.keywords

but emerge still complains about the missing keyword.
I know it is reading what I added, because if I misspell the above lines emerge complains ...

Missing keyoword masking nouveau

I added the x11 overlay to try nouveau, and I get :

- x11-drivers/xf86-video-nouveau-9999 (masked by: missing keyword)

Tried with ppc and ~ppc with the same results.
What am I missing (besides the keyword:)?

It was a misconfigured swap problem

Well, I've found what caused my problem.
I have not configured the swap file correctly before passing it to the domU.

Once that was fixed, mysql emerged without problem.

This is consistent with the bug diagnosis: you run out of memory.

Thanks

Xen domU boot modules.dep problem [SOLVED]

Being the noob that I am, this problem vexed me for a while.

There isn't another post that mentions this, but I cannot fathom this being an uncommon issue:

If you follow the wiki's intructions on creating a domU using quickpkg ( http://gentoo-wiki.com/Xen ) when you boot your new domU you'll get a ...

I've found several threads on the issue but none actually resolved...

I had spent a considerable amount of time solving this and since I have no particular love ...

Any news?

I have EXACTLY the same problem

The same path (seen every howto) the same xorg version, and the same results, down to the same error message on /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

The only thing I can add is that I have the K8M800 chipset.
Is direct rendering perhaps one of the things not yet supported for the chipset?

Bummer.

VLC emerge -how to pass the --enable-pvr flag to .configure?

I have a Hauppauge card, and on the videolan documentation I read that for these cards I need to pass --enable-pvr flag to .configure

How can I do this in the context of the emerge?
Do I need to create a custom ebuild?

It works!

The code posted above solved my problem.

Code: Select all

title Win2k
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
chainloader (hd1,0)+1

I have two SCSI drives, one (sda) with several Linux partitions and the other(sdb) with Windows 2000.
I could not get Windows to work until I implemented the mapping

I manually compiled the package and that solved my problem.

But I'm curious as to what the /etc/portage/package.keywords is supposed to do.
