I could pick on Cyrus or DBmail as well, but they fail to pique my ire as much as uw-imap. I have no experience with DBMail, but I'd be interested in your critique of Cyrus. My two favorite IMAP servers are Cyrus and Dovecot (assuming someone else is doing install/config/maintenance). The reason I ...

I'll give the negative answer. Use anything other than uw-imap and you'll be pretty happy. I use uw-imap on gentoo & I'm happy. The main problem with uw-imap is that it does not support maildir format, the Gentoo default, Gentoo is about choice (isn't it)? There have been patches to uw-imap to add ...

Re: e-mail client suggestions?

It was alright at first, but as I run into more and more quirks, I'm getting sick of its lack of configurability (The fact that its content handling configurability is worse than OE's is just SAD :() and want out, but I don't know what else to try. How's that? You can let your desktop environment ...

Re: E-mail client for cross-platform use (dual-boot machine)

1) It has to support IMAP.
2) It has to be cross-platform -- I run both Windows and Linux on this machine, and don't really want two clients if I don't need it. Thunderbird/seamonkey, (al)pine, or mulberry if IMAP, cross-platform, and stability are priorities. Mulberry is proprietary but gratis ...

The enigmail in portage with Thunderbird 2 mangles my outgoing PGP/MIME messages. The XPI version leads to the errors reported previously. This is on two different boxes (an x86 and an amd64). Something funny is going on.

Reverting to TB 1.5 fixes everything.

Re: What to use for research?

I haven't found a way to produce the APA-style "cite", although that's not as important. Right--The lead developer has a bias towards polar and marine biology & the styles match the journals they use. Customizing styles isn't that hard & the J. Glacial style is pretty close to APA. We probably ...

What did you use on Windows? The most common compilers are the Sun JavaJDK javac, eclipse, and jikes--all of which are on Linux too.

Read:
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/java.xml

Do you have criteria (architecture, importance of speed, special features, pedantic/flexible, etc.)?

Have you tried using whichever compiler you had previously learned to use?

It is archictecture-dependent. It should be one of the directories under:

The problem with italics appears to be because some gentoo installs only have Garamond Italic installed. I have no idea why. A work-around is to remove the occurrences of "garamond" from the css file. The fix is probably to either remove garamond italic or to install the normal font.

Thanks, maybe you know how to use AES256 with kGPG to encrypt te file with DSA key ? I don't use kGPG, so don't know. AES256 might already be the default for you. Use 'gpg --edit-key' and show/set your preferences. I'd imagine that kGPG would just use these default prefs which are associated with ...

What do you mean by 'check the integrity of?'

You can test the hashes against known hashes, as you could with smaller files--it just takes longer.

DC++ relies on the windows API. Porting looks like it would take quite a bit of effort. If you don't want to use an alternive application, it looks like running under wine is your best bet.
