Date Stamp Images

Are there any tools that would allow me to stamp JPEG images with Date Taken inside the image? For example to stamp the date on the right hand corner of the image. If this can be accomplished with a script better yet. Please let me know.

sysinfo:/ issue

I just finished installing kio-sysinfo from www.kde-apps.org. However, I'm not able to run the application. I get the following message when running sysinfo:/ in Konqueror.

Screenshot

Any ideas? I'm running KDE 3.5.7.

Here's your problem. Remove the "=" from the title lines and they ought to show up fine in KDE.
That did the trick!!! Thanks a lot!

KDE and Grub [SOLVED]

I was hoping KDE 3.5.7 would have fixed the issue I have where I can not see my Grub entry list from the logout menu in KDE. This must be a Gentoo specific issue since I have not experienced this on any other distro. Below is my menu.lst file:

default saved
timeout 10
splashimage=(hd1,1)/grub ...

Shazam, in both cases when I do a clone copy I create an image in /tmp. And /tmp does have enough space (part of the root partition).

K3b instantly freezes the system (which requires a hard reboot) so I do not get a chance to debug or look at error messages.

System Freezes - K3b Clone Copy

When I try to perform a Clone Copy with my DVD Burner the system freezes. This doesn't happen with the other drive which is a DVD-ROM. Does anyone have any ideas? Please let me know what information you need from me... Using K3b 1.0.3.

KDE Tooltips

Does anyone have any ideas why when I first get a tooltip the fonts are darker and thicker (almost bolded) and the second time I hover they look normal? This happens with any tooltip in KDE. Below are screenshots:

2nd time: Tooltips2

Solved.

Code: Select all

emerge -C app-dicts/aspell-en app-text/aspell
then

Code: Select all

emerge aspell-en
did the trick.

Low and behold, it seems to be related to a latest update and I believe the latest genkernel update is introducing these issues. The reason for this is, I start on an older kernel 2.6.21.6 and I get no scsi_wait_scan plus no slowdowns on any commands. I also see that the scsi_wait_scan module is not ...

Good point on comparing the two disks but do filesystems play a role? My first drive is my Windows XP drive which is NTFS (RO). Will there be a difference?
Not in the hdparm results, no - it works on the raw disk (doing read-only tests) rather than on a mounted partition.
Below are the results ...

You can try smartmontools - that uses the inbuilt SMART diagnostics which may tell you whether there's any errors - after emerging do:
smartctl -d ata -a /dev/sda
to get a full report and
cmartctl -d ata -t long /dev/sda
to start off a full test (results will be show in the full report, or see ...

SATA Drive Dying??

I have two 120G Samsung SP1213C SATA drives and I believe one of them is acting weird. During boot when the modules are loading I now get a scsi_wait_scan loaded message that I don't recall seeing before. Moreover, when I perform a df -h a FAT32 partition I have on the drive takes longer to show up ...

I get the same error. Could it be that the patch is not for the 2.6.22 kernel?
