Most games (sans quake, ut, & nwn) need wine or cedega and will take a 10-30% preformance hit. So gaming and linux don't do will together. However linux has much more and being able to play a game real quick between work is really nice. Just don't get your hopes up.

Expect a little instablity for ...

From the grub manual
Support multiple filesystem types
Support multiple filesystem types transparently, plus a useful explicit blocklist notation. The currently supported filesystem types are BSD FFS, DOS FAT16 and FAT32, Minix fs, Linux ext2fs, ReiserFS, JFS, XFS, and VSTa fs

So yes you can have ...

You may want to try a previous release just to see if it works. Sometimes regression happens. Try like 2005.1 Please fill a bug report if it does work.

If that doesn't work just use Knoppix to install it, instructions

If Knoppix & gentoo live CD's don't work you have hardware issues.

Good luck ...

Just a FYI for all who care.

To expanding a partition is trivial in linux. However if it goes south so does your data. There are a couple of popular options I will summarize. They both do the same thing.
1 - Use GNU parted
# parted /dev/hda
# resize
2 - Use the any partition tool and then have ...

Key remapping?

I love RTS games and play them fairly regularly. Often I like to change hotkeys from there defualt, some games don't have a native way to do this. In windows there are a couple programs to remap keys. But for the life of me I can't get anything like this to work in linux.
I would be a pig in shit if ...

lxdvdrip is pretty much install/configure, excute, done. As for a guide I don't know what to say except I had to install streamdvd. And edit /etc/lxdvdrip.conf line #37 dvdbrenner=/dev/scd0 to dvdbrenner=/dev/dvd

echo "media-video/lxdvdrip ~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords

Like the orginal poster I realize that lxdvdrip (or other programs/scripts) are a cleaner/better solution to backup up dvds. I guess I should of just said that too like everybody else instead of realizing that the orginal (and my) instructions are more for education ...

Atrai will not replace your media after 90days or even allow you to buy replacements at a discount. So if you can, get ...

It is know to work and work well, plus you won't have to change your current drivers (if you are using nvidia's already).

I really enjoyed it, I started on normal and realized it sucked. Switch up to nightmare and it was great. I played it for the fear, lights out, sound loud, and death near (no quicksave pussy here). The key is only use quick save if you get stuck or have already died somewhere. If its not hard what ...

I had this problem too.

Excutive Summary: I think it is caused by the kernel firewire ethernet driver being assigned eth0, and thus your nic gets eth1. I think two ways to fix this are disable firewire (IE1394) network stuff in the kernel or change boot scripts to use eth1. Heres the quick and ...

I have two monitors running at 3200x1200 (1600x1200 each) . I also have the my home theater hooked up also. I can get the TV to work with twinview when it is just that and the first display, but that requires me to restart my xserver :(
EDIT: I require 2 monitors + a TV

I figure there maybe 3 ways ...
