The .deb it is trying to download does not exist anymore.

I installed plex via a different overlay I had found. I can't remember the exact overlay, but it was one of these:

It is believed that chromium needs kernel 3.17 or later, but unclear which exact 3.17.x. Try a more recent kernel?

emerge apache without ssl heartbeat [solved]

It light of this vuln, http://seclists.org/oss-sec/2014/q2/27 (CVE-2014-0160) I am curious if it is possible to emerge apache without the mod_ssl heartbeat feature.

Is that possible?

I can see that some TLS servers of various vendors have heartbeating disabled and I am curious if I can do the same ...

glsa says affected by older version not installed [SOLVED]

My server says I am affected by a glsa from Oct 2013. However the package appears to be up to date. Have you ever run across this?

What am I doing wrong?

ChicagoVPS offers Gentoo - http://chicagovps.net/

I have an openvz Gentoo VPS with them and it works quite well. The base install image is a tad old, so it takes some time to get current.

But so far pretty good.

Edit: 2014 update - Gentoo is no longer offered. :/

Thanks, at the end I did straight 5.1 --> 5.5

- keyworded dev-db/mariadb & virtual/mysql-5.5
- remove mysql
- emerge mariadb
- revdep-rebuil (in my case only php & qt-sql were rebuilt)
- mysql_upgrade
- etc-update (just minor changes)

et voila, that's it ... so far it looks everything works ...

Installing nvidia drivers is as easy as:

emerge nvidia-drivers

This is a good site to bookmark: http://www.gentoo-portage.com/

You can install vmware through

emerge vmware-workstation

... or just run the vmware installer from vmware. Works great!

Virtualbox (virtualbox.org) is free and very ...

If you put this in your xorg.conf, take it out:

Code: Select all

Section "ServerFlags"
        Option "AllowEmptyInput" "false"
EndSection

... to make it work like this you have to add

Section "ServerFlags"
Option "AllowEmptyInput" "false"
EndSection

to your xorg.conf.

I would be careful about making that change as that causes another problem:

Hrmpf. Since I once had to compile vmware-modules on a debian Lenny machine, I know how much luxury I have with gentoo. Just go and try to figure out what you all need to get the right kernel-headers, toolchain, compiler, whatever with apt-cache and apt-get.

You're so right... :)
