I'm having problems with my NIC..it's not being detected during boot. My motherboard is a Gigabyte MA790X-UD4p and the ethernet controller is

Ethernet Controller: Realtek Semiconductor RTL8111/8168B PCI express Gigabit ethernet controller. I found this thread and compiled the driver they suggested: "R8169" but still no internet. Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks.

if the card is supported by the kernel, check if you have wrong settings (MAC) in

Code: Select all

/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules
if yes, you can delete the file and upon reboot it is re-created with the right settings.
GOOD LUCK!

Code: Select all

cd /usr/src/linux
make menuconfig
and...

Code: Select all

Device drivers
      -> Network Device Support
              -> Ethernet (1000 Mbit)
                       Realtek 8169 gigabit ethernet support (NEW)

If you build it as module, the module will be called r8169
