distrowatch said its released. according to gnome official schedule, it releases on 7th.

http://distrowatch.com/ (look at latest packages list)

http://live.gnome.org/ReleasePlanning_2fTwoPointEleven (look at the end. 7th is possibly the release date.)
impatient.
well, just wanted to let people know it has been released.

The GNOME FTP is only showing 2.11 (the beta of 2.12) is avaible, thus 2.12 is NOT released at the time of this post.
Just because GNOME said that they are aiming for release on the 7th (and BTW today is the 6th) does not mean it will be released on the 7th.

tomorrow is the officiel release, but ebuild won't be avaible for weeks. We should wait until gnome-2.12 is just ~x86 masked ^^

It took 1,5 months for the maintainers to release gnome 2.10 in portage at all, and another 1,5 to get them in the stable tree... HI think you need some patience then "a few weeks" :?

Its out and most of it was out yesterday. Copy of my GNOME 2.12.0 ebuild...check the versions...cripes. All that remains is gconf-editor, gal, and a couple of stragglers. My About GNOME reads well enough:

Version: 2.12.0
Distrobutor: Gentoo
Build Date: 2005/09/05

Some people argue over the craziest things... *shrugs*

Yep. I wish I could have waited for the stable one.. instead I emerged the beta 2 -version and after I finally got it working, I noticed today that nautilus-burner doesn't work. I'll just use openbox until 2.12 comes out stable or at least ~x86.

I think it's a mistake with the kernel version ^^

kernel version : 2.6.12 (now we are at kernel 2.6.13)

this a duplicate of:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-378198.html

... anyway, is not out yet... at least now... take a look at
http://www.gnome.org/start/2.12/

it says:
THIS IS A DRAFT. THE RELEASE HAS NOT HAPPENED YET- IT WILL HAPPEN ON SEPT. 7TH.
IF YOU ACT AS IF IT IS REAL BEFORE SEPT. 7TH, WE WILL MOCK YOU PUBLICLY, PARTICULARLY MAKING REFERENCE TO YOUR FATHER, WHO WAS A HAMSTER, AND YOUR MOTHER, WHO SMELT OF ELDERBERRIES.

I hope they sped up 2.12, because 2.11 was very slow, the only thing that sped it up was RenderAccel.

One of the goals for 2.12 was to make it faster and less resurce hogging. But perhaps cairo is slowing it down?
