I'll third that. Linux may be a faster kernel and have faster WMs available, but when it comes to low-level rendering Windows is faster than X in both 2D and 3D.

if the emerge was successful, all that will be left is /var/tmp/portage/package-ver/temp/eclass-debug.log and environment. actually, i dunno why they're left behind.
Hmm... perhaps they are used by emerge to determine the flags the package was compiled with?

If the key and value are differentiated in some way, just improve your matching expression.
I can easily match either a particular key or a value, but how can I match both at once in order to output them on the same line?
If they aren't, but they are always on every other line, make a shell ...

Suppose I have a file with the following:
key1
value1
key2
value2
key3
value3
...

And I want to change this to:
key1 value1
key2 value2
key3 value3
...
Is there an easy way to do this with bash/sed/awk?

Secondly, is there a way to do something like:
sed 's/....\n..../.....foo..../g'
And have ...

If you have an internet connection you can emerge a light GUI such as fluxbox.

Note that things will take a long time to compile on such an old machine. Be prepared to let emerges run ...

Go to the mountpoint where you mounted your filesystem (most likely /mnt/gentoo): mount??? the handbook never mentioned this ...

If you are going to reinstall XP, you should install XP before Linux. Just leave enough free space for new partitions.
k im still reading the handbook, anyways is there a way NOT to boot windows XP and just linux?? if no if they both boot up wont that create lag lol.

If from the livecd you type "fdisk -l" , it will show your partitions.
