I'll definately try this as soon as I'm done compiling MySQL.

Right now, I'm just mounted using the LiveCD to start installing the programs that I need to run. Worst comes to worst, I can just boot from the CD, mount the partitions and move on from there. No worries.

THanks,

[SOLVED] Word GRUB flashes on boot repeatedly.

Hey all,

I'm trying to install Gentoo on a computer here at work to try to salvage a Bugzilla database that we had.

I'm completely installed, but when I tried to reboot, I get past the POST and then the word GRUB flashes on the screen and fills the whole thing. I never get to a prompt or ...

Hey guys,

I've been searching Google, the forums, and over hill and dale to find out what I'm doing wrong. I ran into this after I was trying to do an emerge -uD world. Frustrating! Here's the error that I'm getting:

So can I ask a stupid question?

How do I apply the patch posted on that site? I'm sorry, I know it's dumb...

Other than getting the ATI drivers to work here, I'm golden with my install of Gentoo. Love it!

So, if anyone at all could help me out with this last problem I'll be done!

I'm running ...

So I just had to let Xorg detect my mouse instead of messing with the settings.

I reemerged xorg-x11 and then everything worked swimmingly!

Thanks for the help guys.

MS USB mouse (SOLVED)

Hey all,

I've done the best I can to solve this without coming here, but I'm at a loss.

I've got a Microsoft USB Intellimouse 1.1 and I've been trying to get it working with Gentoo and KDE. It boots with the LiveCD and I can move the mouse around, but right now, I can't get it to work for the ...

Connection dropped from Win2K computer

Hey guys,
I have a strange question, I've spent the last couple of hours trying to figure out what's going on, but I can't seem to get it.

I'm running the Gentoo machine as a router/firewall for my network. I set up IPTables and everything is working fine. However, every once in awhile, my ...
