[SOLVED] Word GRUB flashes on boot repeatedly.

Having problems with the Gentoo Handbook? If you're still working your way through it, or just need some info before you start your install, this is the place. All other questions go elsewhere.

Hey all,

I'm trying to install Gentoo on a computer here at work to try to salvage a Bugzilla database that we had.

I'm completely installed, but when I tried to reboot, I get past the POST and then the word GRUB flashes on the screen and fills the whole thing. I never get to a prompt or anything, it just sits there and flashes. I've tried some of the other things that have been recommended in the other posts to no avail.

Anyone seen this before? Anyone figured out what was wrong? I'm at a loss here...

I'd really appreciate some help!

Thanks,
llama

According to this sticky (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-122656.html), this happens with some BIOS ...
This can be caused by having your bios detect your disks automatically. Try to set your bios entry to User Type HDD.
Good Luck...

I'll definately try this as soon as I'm done compiling MySQL.

Right now, I'm just mounted using the LiveCD to start installing the programs that I need to run. Worst comes to worst, I can just boot from the CD, mount the partitions and move on from there. No worries.

THanks,

llama

That was it...Changed my bios setting to User Type HDD and everything worked great!

Thanks for the help!
