MS USB mouse (SOLVED)

Hey all,

I've done the best I can to solve this without coming here, but I'm at a loss.

I've got a Microsoft USB Intellimouse 1.1 and I've been trying to get it working with Gentoo and KDE. It boots with the LiveCD and I can move the mouse around, but right now, I can't get it to work for the life of me.

I've compiled my kernel with support of USB HID built in and I get the light turning on and when I run

Code: Select all

#cat /dev/input/mice
I get all the wierd symbols, so I know that it's working. However, when I run startx, I get a "No Devices Found" and I can't start KDE.

I've tried the FAQs on www.linux-usb.com (.org?) and followed the FAQs there but I can't figure it out. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks!

llama

I use the same mouse myself and it works correctly have you edited you xorg.conf for the mouse? Here is my xorg.conf where it applies to the mouse

Code: Select all

Section "InputDevice"

# Identifier and driver

    Identifier	"Mouse1"
    Driver	"mouse"
    Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
    Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
    Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
Hope that helps

So I just had to let Xorg detect my mouse instead of messing with the settings.

I reemerged xorg-x11 and then everything worked swimmingly!

Thanks for the help guys.
