well,i tried that option........but the following step baffles me.....
its asking me the memory of my video card.....I dont have any seperate video card.....whatever I have(if there is something at all) is inbuilt into my MSI K400 motherboard and I couldnt get any details of it anywhere

Actually the error is because ther is no such directory as /lib/modules/2.6.4.52.........
There is only one directory in that location and thats 2.6.9.......
so,I made a soft link for the same.........
Then ,I stopped getting that error...
Then (after I changed only) depmod -a went fine.

I installed gentoo yesterday.While installing i had problem s with emerge --rsync but I completed the complete installation from the first stage without any errors ....I even used my lan and the net to download some source files.So,there wasnt any problem with the network.But now when I boot into ...
