I have bumped up the gimp-1.3.21 ebuild. But I'm having same problems with the ebuild in portage.

rincewind, you problems look to be caused by your choice of CFLAGS. You may like to take out -fPIC and how another go.

Ciao, Brandy.

I'm having exactly same problem except I'm not using -fPIC. I've tried without any USE-flags or CFLAGS set but still the compilation fails at the same point.

Can ...

Code: Select all

emerge -pv /usr/portage/media-gfx/gimp/gimp-1.3.21.ebuild

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] media-gfx/gimp-1.3.21 -doc +python -aalib +png +jpeg +tiff +gtkhtml +mmx +sse +X
You obviously haven't enabled jpeg USE-flag.

Any ideas? I used my old .config from test3 and i even created a new one, which did not help.
Putting pci=noacpi to my grub.conf helped me.

that's not right.. did you restart the x server after opengl-update?
Did you run dmesg to see if both sis-agp and fglrx are loaded properly? You might need to pass agp_try_unsupported=1 as an option to the sis-agp driver.
after all that check the output of "glxinfo" and tell us if direct rendering ...

It seem like binary ati-drivers are working for me now.
I'm using 2.6.0-test3-mm2 kernel and compiled agpgart into kernel and SiS chipset support as a module.
At first I forgot to modprobe sis-agp, but even without doing that my screen has gone blank but now it just gave me an AGP error. I modprobed ...

Nah no fix. We'll have to wait either for SiS to release some official drivers or some kernel hacker to... well.. start hacking. ;)
I've been keeping an eye on it for months. It's going slow, let me tell you ...

No AGP errors anymore, I had forgotten to modprobe sis-agp.

I can't really see what's wrong with it.

I'm using agpgart compiled in kernel, but I also tried it as module.

I'm getting blank screen when trying to start X. I can't get back using Ctrl+Fn keys. I've read the HOWTO-thread, but it didn't help. Am I stuck without ATI binary drivers? I'd like to try the new tv-out feature of those.

What setting was it ?
The BIOS option is Hot Key Function As located in power management or something. The help for it said that the hot key is set to Ctrl+Alt+Backspace. Disable hotkey if you have the same option as I do.

Ok, the problem is solved now.
The problem was that I had accidentally broken my IDE cable that goes to harddrive. I had swapped it to 100% working IDE cable from my CD-RW but somehow HD speed got crippled.
I don't really understand. Maybe the other IDE cable was DMA33 or something.

Thank you all ...
