weird ... capset is a part of libcap, if I remember right ... maybe you should try to recompile it?Dagger wrote: veto root # named

I can't remember where I got it, I think I found it in the nvnews forums, but I can't find the thread I found it in. So I've uploaded the module to my earthlink FTP space http://home.earthlink.net/~paulsdead/nvnet.tar.gzdufeu wrote:Huh! Could you post where you found this!!paulisdead wrote:The modified nvnet driver I found finally loads correctly at bootup with test4, which is really nice. Before I had to insmod the module with the full path name. So far I haven't had any lockups with the NIC, like in previous test kernels, but it's too early to tell for sure.
I'm very much interested. I've added a Realtek 8139 because I couldn't find a working nvnet driver!
Also - I can only get the nvidia driver to work when ACPI is not in the kernel.

First, thanx for the modified driver. I'll try it tomorrow when I'm not so beat.paulisdead wrote: also did you try adding this to the kernel line in your lilo.conf/grub.conf, pci=noacpi pci=biosirq. I had a problem with the nvidia graphics drivers coming up with a black screen when starting X without those options, since the driver was looking for the card on IRQ 10.
Same here, got a kt7a, said acpi disaebled because bios was to old. Flashed my bios. And now hangs while booting. Funny thing is, i have a USB-mouse, but when i put in a PS/2-mouse it boots just finelittleendian wrote:Ooooh, man. test4 doesn't even boot, although I use the same basic .config I used with test1, which worked fine. It gives no kernel panic, it just "stops" and does nothing after the message "using antipacitory scheduling elevator" (not sure about second word) After that test1 gives out something about a disk-drive controller, I think... the notebook has an external USB floppy that is not plugged in, might this cause the problem?
Info:
Toshiba 5200-701, acpi-only, p4-m 1.9 GHz, gf4 mx 460, 512 MB DDR, 2x 40 GB (toshiba+IBM), no "experimental" stuff enabled in kernel-config.
I checked out the kernel mailing list, didn't find something similar...

look this thread: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=73260NetZwerg wrote:Did anybody try to get ati-drivers work with test4
I tried and got a kernel oops on X start and the screen went (and stayed) blank.

Code: Select all
mice: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice
Putting pci=noacpi to my grub.conf helped me.chr1z wrote:Kernel test4 does not even boot here.
The boot process hangs at this line:Any ideas? I used my old .config from test3 and i even created a new one, which did not help.Code: Select all
mice: PS/2 mouse device common for all mice

I have this same problem. Just after USB and before ALSA the init just hangs. (I get the PS2 mouse enabling) message and then it locks up.blofeld wrote:Well here it doesn't boot when ACPI is enabled (was working before with all 2.6-test* kernels). It hangs after initializing
the USB devices or right before enabling ALSA (which is compiled into the kernel - not module).

I know that in the previous beta kernels it was widely known not to expect your scroll wheel on your mouse to work.....has this been resolved, or does anyone know a work arund?
