Gimp 1.3.21 and jpg

I've got gimp 1.3.21 installed, and I cannot open jpg files. When I try and open them with the gimp, i get

gimp wrote:Opening 'halloween-022.jpg' failed:
Unknown file type

So I try and open it and specify the file type, but I cannot select JPEG support, because it is not there. Did the gimp drop jpeg support, or do I need a special plugin to access jpg files? If anyone knows, please post. I've tried googling, but no success, and it doesn't seem to say anything on their site.

You obviously haven't enabled jpeg USE-flag.

Thanks. I've never had to enable jpeg support in my USE flags before in the development versions, so I didn't even think about it. Thanks.
