You can get the RTCW files from ID Software, The RTCW web site, etc..

There is an installer for NWN on the icculus.org site.

no idea really

Just thought it would be a nice feature.

Perhaps something already exists that is simular and someone could point it out.

Perhaps something like this is being implemented.

Perhaps someone might agree and decide to code it.

'emerge -up --security'

Just a thought.

A neat feature would be an emerge option to update the latest packages with known security problems.

Something like

Code: Select all

emerge -up --security
Perhaps its in the works already.

Half-Life

I would have to say Half-Life is the best single player game I have played. I don't really like the tomb raider like jumping parts. But the way the story unfolds and the story itself.

Anyhow +1 for HL

MOHAA -- Error: Couldn't load default.cfg (solved)

When I try to load MOHAA i get the following error.

ASSERT: [qcommon/common.c:406] Couldn't load default.cfg (fyi)
Error: Couldn't load default.cfg

<solved!!> emerge -u portage (broke stuff)

I recently updated portage on one of my Gentoo systems. This process updated a number of packages that I will list below. Update of the package "gawk" failed. At this point I can no longer emerge anything without getting the following error:

shoebox portage # emerge rsync
python2.2: error while ...

# I hate 15 lines of comments. So I just delete them from the file itself.
face_eth0="dhcp"
dhcpcd_eth0="" # Tried adding a hostname, and taking out.

Don't know if its just a typo on the forum or in your "/etc/conf.d/net" files.

The option to use either static IP or DHCP is set in the file "net". The "net" file is located in the "/etc/conf.d/" directory.

This should have been setup during the installation unless you missed a step.

I recommend you take a look at the install docs they are very descriptive.

You might want to check for a virus via some recent AV floppies. It does sound strange indeed.

Having removed grub and restored the windows bootloader "fdisk /mbr" you should be fine(for a windows load).

After checking for a virus. You might want to restore the windows bootloader again and setting ...

You can run 'lsmod' to see what modules are loaded. You should see one for your network card. If it is not loaded then you might have to load it yourself.

You can run 'ifconfig' to see if the device is up, has address, etc.

Yes you need the data files (pak) for quake2 to run. Check in /usr/share/quake2 or /usr/share/doc/quake2 for instructions on what you need to move from the CD.

You might also want to fix your rights on /dev/dsp.

can syslog rotate them ? .... as I said my logs in /var/log are already rotating, just not the apache logs ?
No, syslog is for writing logs.

Since you said that your other logs are rotating I assume you have logrotate.
You just need to add the apache logs to the logrotate config file.

Remove the old drivers 1st.

Also be sure to remove the old nvidia drivers before you emerge a new set.

And btw.. I use the latest nvidia drivers w/ quake2, quake3, rtcw, nwn, etc without a problem.

Assuming that the imap/pop packages are setup and running. You might want to check your hosts.deny and hosts.allow files.
