a simple check for updates (when there are none) takes 18+ sec. i have some pretty decent hardware. lots of memory. gobs of cpus. super fast m.2... some back and forth with gemini seemd to think that there was a circle dependency in emerge command / wrapper not finding the correct script and waiting ...

so, i have a gentoo server that is running krdp. i have a plasma desktop and enabled krdp in the system settings. i have a linux mint client that i'm trying to connect to the rdp server.

and removed it. seems this was pulled in and maybe set by snapd. now my system is updating ...

thanks for the reply. it's actually not clear. i didn't even add this use flag or set it. i looked at the options to unset it, but even after using ufed to set so that it has a minus sign on the left, it's gives the same error.

i have an error updating my world, the systemd tells me that it doesn't like this use flag. i don't know that i ever set or used this flag.

i recently revived my bricked system after grub updates. am now trying to get it all updated. prior to being bricked, i was looking to use the newest kde 6, but alas, that was too much work. anyway, when i run my world update, i get a lot of blockers as shown on the wgetpaste output.

i really don't think closing this is beneficial. there's lots of gentoo users out here who want to see and use the latest kde. i came to use gentoo many many years ago because of it's ability to have multiple kde versions installed (slots). i saw the recent kde release and thought i'd give it a go ...

i have a usb webcam. i use google hangouts / meet for calls. when my camera is on, it randomly shuts off. i get an error in dmesg that says:

my /home directory is on a sata hdd, my / system is on nvme. i've tried wiith a completely new user who doesn't have many files on home dir, and the same thing exists.

i had similar issues. googleing took me to this post. further searching let me to fix my world file. i used the checkworldfile script referenced on this post

I'm not sure about rev/bios settings. I did at one point have to use iommu soft. But that was years ago with initial setup.

I hope to replace with a ryzen 8 core 16 thread machine sometime this year.

btw, i did my recent install (about 6 weeks ago) using sysrescue cd. gentoo cd gave problems so i ditched it.
