althans, de x86 cd komt wel goed uit iig, maar kan me herinneren dat de make.conf ingesteld moest op i686

and in the x86 installation guide translated in dutch says the same
in that case it puts this in make ...

ah, then the installation manual & quick installation reference are not right

because it didn't put the '#' before the comments

If I am not mistaken the PII uses SLOT 1 and the Socket A is an AMD thing.

the kernel won't recognize "pentium 2"

actually, it's quite similar to the standards, I think I changed CHOST from i386 to i686
CXXFLAGS ...

everything works here now
have you done x86 tarball, and in your config file changed the cpu type to i686?
