b) distccmon-gui outputs nothing on server system

distccmon-gui only displays what is being done on the system doing the distribution i.e. the client and does not show anything on the server.

Code:

Funtoo would be a sensible step (since its based on binaries and not source).

Not correct Funtoo is a set of stage3 builds for gentoo but uses openrc by default and includes sunrise overly spliced to the normal gentoo overlay its creator is Daniel Robbins - Gentoo's creator.
On his site you will ...

Hmm just noticed that your M/B is PCIE so I dont know how this works with AGPGART maybe dont use it?
Dont know how it is reported in dmesg since I dont have any systems with PCIE.
Certainly I would expect it to have a PCI ID: rather than an AGP ID:(usually 1:0.0)

I notice you're using "ati" driver from xorg and not "radeon"...
Actually does the same job , if you check the log "ati" is loaded and then when card is detected as radeon it loads "radeon". If you use "radeon" it is loaded and then when card is detected it loads "ati" then "radeon"
