i need that to be a valid java regex, which is different then perl.

I think I get what you are doing, but i don't get the "(?!" part.

Ok, well I've never done regex in Java but I can't imagine regex differs all that much from language to language

Re: regex

all

what is a good regex to identify all ampersands in a string that are not part of a valid xml entity.

so

S&P 500 would be found but

&
"
'
<

would be ignored. In java.

What exactly do you want it to return? Just the &'s? the word they are in? Remove them?

Oh goddamnit.

Full removal and re-install of KDE (11 hours of compilation) and I still have the same damn error.

Any suggestions?
Fluxbox works fine, but I can't get KDE to start.

I guess I'll try removing compiz-fusion....

Re: KDE fails to start after emerge -e world

What are you serious... 1000 packages...what was the last time that you perform an update ?

Can you post emerge --info plz ?

Last time I did an update was when GCC 4.1 was released. School got me busy, I neglected my gentoo box :)

Anyway, I'm unmerging all kde packages, and I'll try re-merging ...

KDE fails to start after emerge -e world

I started an emerge -eav world on tuesday night. Over 1000 packages updated, and revdep rebuild rebuilt another 40 (including kdelibs)
So I rebooted and besides some warnings, everything is good.
I even ran X and fluxbox started up just fine.

However, I tried KDE and it crashes. I see my cursor ...

Two screens - Different size fonts on each? [solved]

I have a 17" LCD monitor (1280x1024) and a 21" flatscreen TV (1024x768) set up using seperate X screens right now. Is it possible to make the TV use larger fonts than the monitor?

Edit:
Nevermind, I found the solution I needed :)
Just had to change the DPI for my TV in xorg.conf (it was 75x75 ...

Did you recently update bash or something and forgot/ignored some changes in /etc?
My /etc has been on auto-update since I installed Gentoo.

It's weird, I know...
I still think it's python related, but I can't figure out what could be affecting it

Bery-SVN compile troubles

For the last week I havn't been able to build the Beryl SVN source.
I'm using the xeffects overlay and I get an error when I start building the Beryl-settings-bindings package.
It seems to be python related, but it has give me the same error with Python 2.4.4, Python 2.5-r1, and both versions ...

On the topic of Python removal,

I just updated to 2.5 and I wanted to make sure it's save to remove 2.4.4 now, after I've run python-updater and re-merged all python-relevant packages.

For C/C++ , I've been pretty happy with KDevelop for a relatively light IDE
For a full-blown C/C++ IDE, I like Anjuta so far. Does what I need.

For Java, Eclipse is nice, but might be more than you're looking for.

I seriously recommend above all else to just simply buy the CD.

DRM is a bitch, and doesn't bite you until you've already wasted a lot of time and money with DRM'ed files.
You get restrictions on
1) How many computers
2) How many mobile players
3) What kinds of mobile players
4) Copying the music ...

Just a little addition to the thread....

I had issues burning DVDs in K3B originally.. my solution was to go to
Settings -> Configure K3B -> Advanced -> Manually Writing Buffer Size -> 2MB

Might help some of you, might not.

I run a Slackware fileserver in my room. Once you set it up, you really never have to touch it. Stable as a rock.

I imagine Gentoo would be a good choice too, with all the flexibility.

If I switch window managers, it doesn't switch. Instead it just turns the current one off, and won't start another one. Usually the only solution is to ctrl+alt+backspace, but sometimes it disables the keyboard too and a hard reset is my only option if right click doesn't work ...

I suppose you want to actually Buy the music online?

As much as I hate buying music without getting the actual CD..... You could try Magnatune. I assume since it's bundled with Amarok now that it supports Linux, and I'm pretty sure it's DRM free.

There's been a few people with this problem. 0.1.2 from Portage won't compile on my system either.
