I've completed a stage1 Gentoo image for the NetWinder ARM platform.
The project history, status, downloads, and install instructions can be
found at the following URL:
http://cvs.gentoo.org/~zwelch/gentooarm.html
This is a work in progress, but we have already begun the development
of a stage1 image for the iPaq series as well. Stay tuned.[/url]
you would be wrong since zynot is good and dead at this pointMrSums wrote:I might be wrong, but have a look here:

Uh... when I try to file a new bug, category "gentoo linux", I can choose the following archs from the "hardware platform" combo box: All, x86, PPC, PPC64, Sparc, Alpha, Mips, HPPA, amd64, ia64. Nothing else.SpanKY wrote:yes it ismheyse wrote:ARM is not a platform supported by bugs.gentoo.org...
the platform list isnt in alphabetical order, look further down
yeah, i'll look into why it isnt showing up under the guided mode ...mheyse wrote:OK, sorry for the fuzz, I found it - need to use "New-Expert".
probably because it's never been announced anywheremheyse wrote:What's the status of gentoo-arm anyway? Doesn't look like too many people are using it. This thread is pretty quiet and still I didn't find anything more active. Where do I go to find the secret hidden gentoo-on-arm-linux-community?
This is great. But I think it won't be easy to get gentoo to fully support arm - gcc 3.3.x sometimes generates wrong code or internal compiler errors (compiling gtk+ e.g. is a real pain, and I had to build my handhelds.org kernel with 3.4.1, otherwise it wouldn't even boot without oopses). And moving on to 3.4.1 won't be easy, too, I guess. How do you want to resolve this issue? It's quite a problem here...SpanKY wrote:i'm aiming for a 2004.3 release now so we can announce official arm support
i think these might be related to the bugs arm has with 2.15 binutils ...mheyse wrote:But I think it won't be easy to get gentoo to fully support arm - gcc 3.3.x sometimes generates wrong code or internal compiler errors (compiling gtk+ e.g. is a real pain, and I had to build my handhelds.org kernel with 3.4.1, otherwise it wouldn't even boot without oopses).
