I got the same error with some other packages. To solve the problem, I recompiled libtool.

I don't know where enlightenment.eclass came from because:

Configuration File Locations

Paludis looks in the following places for configuration files:

* ${PALUDIS_HOME}/.paludis, if the PALUDIS_HOME environment variable is set, or ${HOME}/.paludis otherwise.
* ${SYSCONFDIR}/paludis, where SYSCONFDIR is /etc on most systems.

If --environment :suffix or --environment paludis:suffix is specified, Paludis will use .paludis-suffix or paludis-suffix. This can be used to maintain multiple configurations, for example for chroots.

so you need to make ~/.paludis-whatever and define specpath inside to your chroot dir.

If a file named specpath.conf exists in the configuration directory, Paludis uses this to find a second, real configuration directory. specpath.conf is a standard key=value configuration file, with the following keys having recognised meaning:

root
The real configuration directory is taken to be ${root}/SYSCONFDIR/paludis/ (note that HOME values are not used). When installing, ${root}/ is used rather than / as the base install location.

the rest of the paludis configuration should be put inside ${root}/etc/paludis , where root is defined in ~/.paludis-whatever/specpath.conf

then use "paludis --environment :whatever" and paludis should pick that up.

hmm.... it's not like this on my system. i'll take 4 examples:

i have glibc, gcc with multilib system and the profile set to multilib. portage compiles with mulilib (use flag) and installs both 32bit and 64bit files (for the various packages).
paludis instead doesn't find multilib (as well as nptl for a bunch of packages) as use flag and when building doesn't build also the 32bit counterparts. i've always thought that even if the mulilib flag is not recognized well (paludis shows it like this: (-multilib)) it would still install multilib packages as multilib ones. but i happend to see that a mulilib package (mplayerplug-in) hadn't built also the 32bit part. so i went on checking the other multilib packages and guess what: gcc and glibc have been updated by paludis without the 32bit part accordingly to the qlist utility. i didn't know that this would happen, and frankly i don't understand why before rebuilding gcc with multilib use flag with portage the 32bit apps have worked out well.

now, if i have some issues on my system and you're telling that on a multilib system paludis would automatically build multilib packages as so i'd like what are the things i need to look out and see what is wrong on my system.

It sounds like things are definitely weird on your system. What profile are you using? what use flags have you declared that might affect it? Are you using paludis environment or portage?

I'd check to see if you have accidentally put something strange in use.conf or bashrc

Npe, the multilib flag is handled differently than others. It's a profile flag and is handled by the system.

try paludis -u =kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.9-r4 --permit-unsafe-uninstalls -p
this will give you a list of packages to uninstall (kdelibs 3.5.9-r4 in this example) and a list of red coloured packages that are the ones that need this package installed. these are the blockers, which mean that these packages need to be unistalled to be able to remove kdelibs.

There are a lot of packages (like open office) that need KDE 3.5. If you remove all of KDE you need to remove the kde flag from your USE flags.

I would just leave those few there and wait a while until their no longer needed.

Is it just me or is it strange that kde3.5 is being requested to be installed and paludis is not informing me why it should be installed (what dependency has been broken)? Could this problem be due to an old meta package (ie kdebase-startkde)?
