I have read more than once that for 2d work, AGP and PCI don't make a lot of difference. The chip itself and the driver count there. Even in 3d the difference starts only when textures get so large that they need the ram of the motherboard in addition to their own. The latter is of course true for most modern games, but Pre QIII should run pretty well on a PCI card at not too high res. And again: for 2d????
