boot passwd auto-scrambling

boot passwd auto-scrambling

everything boots up fine but it allways does

how do i fix this poblem

This isn't a problem, rather it's a security feature of the liveCD. AFAIK it's a startup script that is run every time you boot with the liveCD so that if you want to use SSH with the liveCD (i.e. remote install) you have to set the root password yourself, since the liveCD allows remote root logins over SSH by default. You can always set the root password on a liveCD session by simply using the passwd command, you are dumped into a root shell on the liveCD anyway so you can reset the root password to whatever you like.

If this happens *after* you install Gentoo on your computer and not on the liveCD, I suggest checking your startup scripts (see rc-update show and man rc-update).

Actually I found a past thread where this was solved already. Take a look here: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-32 ... pwgen.html. I'm pretty sure this will fix your issue.

try

...
su --login root
now works fine for me
