[SOLVED] No email notification anymore

  • Quote

Post by Massimo B. » Wed Jan 26, 2022 7:59 am

Hi,

I already reported to #gentoo-forums@LiberaChat some weeks before...
I don't get any email notifications from the forums anymore. Last mail from forum-mods@gentoo.org I received 1 year ago.
I checked all SPAM filters and stuff. The same mail-adress is also used by the Gentoo wiki (Gentoo Wiki <wiki-noreply@gentoo.org>) and is working fine there.

Hmmm. Will look into this. Thanks for reporting. I will say that the Forums send out several maintenance-related emails to us Admins every day, so we know that the basic email plumbing is not broken.

Massimo B.

I've sent you a PM, so you should get an email abut that.

Please check your spambox.
Regards,

I have received the notification mail about your PM, but not about the thread reply.
The last message about thread notifications I received on 2021-01-10. I checked all my spam filters.

I don't understand, why the PM notifications is received but the other not. However I see a difference in the header of the PM notification of yesterday and the forum notification from 2021:

Code: Select all

The 2nd has "To: Undisclosed-recipients" while the 1st has my email-address. This could actually lead to a higher spam score, but anyway the spam filter didn't catch it here.

So you don't need a gratuitous reply to check for e-mail about responses?

We did test most things we could think of, but this wasn't one of those.

Perhaps next time...

Merged with the test topic with 6 posts total starting at 8695860.

As I mentioned in the bug, everything looks good on our side, but some of the messages do indeed seem to bounce. I wonder if the 'to' field has something to do with it, even if they don't seem to be caught by the filter.
Kindest of regardses.

btw. I guess you sent me 2 private messages, but I can't read them because of some other issue 1147900.
I'm going to be totally blind, no notifications and no private mails...
But I still can access the forums manually :)

Wasn't me. :]

In any case, for this topic, I'm not sure what else we could try. Do you have any other completely different e-mails you could try with for the notification mails?
Kindest of regardses.

Has anyone suggested creating a new test user to verify whether or not it is associated specifically with your user? Since it doesn't seem to be reported by anyone else, it might be worth a shot. If you have access to a different email address / provider, that might help too. Have there been any checks on whether it could be browser related? Conflicting plug-in or cache / profile?

Yeah, Neddy had that idea as well, or something similar at least, but we haven't gone forth with it in any shape nor form yet.

Apologies for the noise, I know it doesn't help you but I subbed to this topic last time I saw it a long time ago and just this morning got an e-mail from the forums about your reply to the topic.

Definitely seems something is wrong with your account behind the scenes somewhere after seeing your other topic also.

@Massimo B.

I also have been suffering for a while from the same issue, and my email provider is gmx.com. Seems like yours is gmx too, right?

I noticed today that I haven't received notifications from the ArchLinux BBS either. So it may be gmx.com's issue. (Not thrown into the spam folder, are they?)

Ugh.
