This seems incredibly prophetic, given that Rasted did indeed do this fairly recently; I can't find the dated news item anymore, but I think it happened in December. I also think it's very telling that the latest news item on enlightenment.org is dated November 5.silux wrote:I have no desire to go through the hassle of installing very beta software that Raster will probably rip up and start over again before its finally released as DR 0.17 but I'm very interested as to what is actually new with this release. If anyone could give me the heads up with the new features I'd appreciate it

Many of these features are planned, but no work has been done on specifics yet. Basically WM specific idease are just that, still ideas - we cannot code it till the code base is thereAchilles wrote:I think e17 would be amazing if it had an expocity like application built into it... are there any plans for such an app?
Whilst you have a point I think that evan a quick look at Evas or Edje etc etc will prove that it is worth while and an excellent overall choiceregeya wrote:I almost wish Raster had just stuck with the FVWM code; how many rewrites has Enlightenment gone through so far, and how many times has this broken compatibility with previous versions?
Actually it was in September that the Dead 17wm code was announced - it is in the news pages. Chill man - all will be made good!regeya wrote:Rasted did indeed do this fairly recently; I can't find the dated news item anymore, but I think it happened in December. I used to love the idea of E, and was looking forward to EFM integration four years ago, but I've all but given up on Raster and Mandrake ever producing anything usable ever again.
I think it's a shame as I had always been a hardcore e fan but e17 is well past the due date and some other great wm's have surfaced over the past few years; I have since long abandoned any hope.
I promise I'm not being picky but I tried entrance and unmerged it shortly afterwards, it looked similar to elogin but with more bugs...smiley wrote:Okay, a couple of things to say:
First, for those of you who think e17 is dead and/or not worth the wait, I highly suggest that you try the entrance display manager.
Code: Select all
ls /usr/share/entrance/themesCode: Select all
edb_gtk /etc/entrance.db
Development just seems slower then usual, and I have seen several other window managers come into there own whilst e sits bubbling quietly away in the background. It's like waiting for Halfi-Life 2, and this time there's no excuse for leaked source codemorgant wrote:I have to say I can't believe how many naysayers are coming out of the woodwork to talk about how e17 is

taking too long
won't be very good.
I've started using entrance as the login manager on my laptop, and while it does have a few quirks, it works very well for the most part (not to mention turning a few heads).
Honestly, from the design approach the project has taken, I'm amazed at how much is done. You don't just decide to build all your support libraries from scratch and then one day magically have a window manager. I guess what I'm saying is that while I understand the general impatience for e17, looking at the amount of work they have already put in should let you know that good things are going to happen.
Just $0.02
Are you using the most recent snapshot of entrance? I assume that you're talking about the key that used to be in entrance.db for setting rendering to software or hardware, however that isn't present anymore. BTW, every time you upgrade entrance, make sure that you overwrite the old entrance.db, as the old one is sometimes different from the new one and may not work correctly.paperp wrote:...i'm using entrace for a while but...
I'm not able to see th cursor!
If a set the string software to GL my keyboards don't give the input to user and paassword anymore...
I've tried a lot of times to change the configure interface but no good result got...any suggestion??
Lat but not least the grafic and beauty level is amzing/astonishing..no doubt!!
