phpBB 2.0.x does not have this feature, though it is available as a mod. If this feature is available in (vanilla) phpBB 2.2, we will certainly look at implementing it.wheerdam wrote:I know that phpBB has this feature, but I don't know whether Gentoo forums have it. Thanks!

Is there any reason why you can't just use the mod? It's just that it's quite inconvenient to have to go to the forums and click 'posts from last 24 hours' all the time when an RSS solution is simple and elegant. I'd think a feed would save bandwidth, as well.klieber wrote: phpBB 2.0.x does not have this feature, though it is available as a mod. Yes. Please see my earlier post on why we avoid using mods.antisthenes wrote:Is there any reason why you can't just use the mod?

Just out of curiosity, why are you, and others, opposed to modifying phpbb? It's not that difficult. Is time an issue? Even though phpbb is probably the best forum (IMO), it lacks some basic stuff.klieber wrote:phpBB 2.0.x does not have this feature, though it is available as a mod. Effort? Who's effort? Are you shorthanded with help on these forums in terms of webmastering? If so, ask for help. Hell, I'd be happy to help out but I know that's not possible. phpBB provides "upgrade mods" in consideration for phpbb forums that have been heavily modified: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/catdb.php?cat=48A 1.1. Yes, we modified search. "We had to change the search code to help it scale more. The forums were literally collapsing under the load of the old code. We spent the time required to get it to a state where it was operational again." With each customized modification to phpbb code that is made, more effort is required to upgrade to new versions of phpbb. As such, unnecessary modifications will not be made.
