I am currently running a gaming-sources kernel and would like to know if it has the preemptive patch enabled by default. From the installation doc I asume it doesn't and that I need to enable it by hand, but it isn't really clear. I'd really like to give it a try.(...) There is also a gaming-sources kernel optimized for game-playing responsiveness that works wonderfully for this purpose when the "Preemptible kernel" option is enabled.
In case I need to enable it, how do I this? Can I do it from xconfig?
If it's there by default, is there any way to check if my running kernel has is enabled?
I have a few more doubts about thw performance of the system, if you wish to help, please check http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=100836.
Thanks a lot.
