Today I went to a place where I hadn't ethernet connectivity and kdm didn't show the weird behaviour. At first I didn't understand the connection since I thought it was something related to the event interface that manages my keyboard and my wacom tablet (yep, I have some troubles related to events and wacom).
When I came back, after some experiments, I noticed that if I booted Linux with the ethernet cable unplugged, kdm worked flawlessly. Then I tried to reboot with the cable plugged in and magic! kdm wasn't working again!
Ideas?
PS. Forgot to mention that I couldn't /etc/init.d/xdm restart since kdm seems to be locked up.
