kdm randon keystrokes when on ethernet

Hello. It is some days now that I'm experiencing this strange behaviour of kdm. At the first boot it waits for my password and, when I type it in, it grabs only three or four characters (in different timings related to my typing and even when I typed more than four strokes) and then starts filling the field endlessly. I've managed to know that the repeating stroke is a 'd', if it's of some interest (and there's no 'd' in my password ;)).

Today I went to a place where I hadn't ethernet connectivity and kdm didn't show the weird behaviour. At first I didn't understand the connection since I thought it was something related to the event interface that manages my keyboard and my wacom tablet (yep, I have some troubles related to events and wacom).

When I came back, after some experiments, I noticed that if I booted Linux with the ethernet cable unplugged, kdm worked flawlessly. Then I tried to reboot with the cable plugged in and magic! kdm wasn't working again!

Ideas?

PS. Forgot to mention that I couldn't /etc/init.d/xdm restart since kdm seems to be locked up.

Nothing? The problem persists and I have no clue on what it going on nor on how to effectively report the situation. Any suggestion is welcome.

locate the pid and do a "strace -p <pid>" and try to go from there what your kdm process is trying to do?
