Have a PowerPC specific problem? This is the spot.

I'm not sure what came over me but I decided to try ~ppc (unstable branch). Halfway through the switch, I realized I don't have the extra time to do this or to put myself on that steep of a learning curve. I was aware there are risks to running ~ppc and it is no simple task to return to stable. I've reverted back to stable packages except for sys-apps/coreutils-6.4 and sys-libs/glibc-2.5 (well there are a few others I have in package.keywords but those I'd like to keep ~ppc). I'm aware that downgrading the previously mentioned is no simple task however I am unsure as to how difficult it actually is. My two biggest problems I've encountered so far are: many udevd error messages at boot, and inablity to connect to my wireless network at home (eth1 not found). Please let me know what I need to do bring my system back to stable.

EDIT: Just thought I'd add... those of you running ~ppc, what has your experience been like? Lots of trouble and fixing? I'd run ~ppc if I could use my system from day to day.

Just my 2 cents: I've been running ~ppc (64, 32 bit userland) for a while now. It has its ups and downs. There were times when many emerge actions would fail, but most of the time, a search on the forum would bring help. Recently, I've been very happy with it -- most apps compiled and worked just fine (knocks on wood). However, if this were my primary or only computer and I needed it for real work (i.e. to pay my mortgage), I probably wouldn't take the risk. But then, to tell you the truth, I wouldn't be running gentoo on it in the first place, but some nice, stable, old distro like debian.

Hi
Just like pindar, I am running ~ppc for more a year or so.
And it got smooth enough now. I keep my old machine in stable
and my mac mini in ~ppc. As I don't refresh the old machine
very frequently, I have to face about the same quota of breakages.
But very rarely critical. For the rest, this is the gentoo way ;)

I've had some problems running ~ppc, but less than on ppc. I highly recommend using bugs.gentoo.org
