When I emerged beryl-0.1.1-r1 it failed with the error message:"stable" cairo doesn't have X or pdf useflag and beryl doesn't claim to need a masked cairo version

So what makes it 0.1.1-r1? Is there any difference at all in the other packages to make it like that?nesl247 wrote:Still and always be a metastobbsm wrote:the only 0.1.1-r1 I have is the beryl ebuild, but isn't that just like a meta build to bring in all the packages? This release is *extremly* faster than the previous for me, and rotation works like a charm. I'm an intel (i915) userR!tman wrote:Beryl-0.1.2 arrived. Does anyone else have that problem? BTW, I'm nvidia user.
Apparently, my xorg.conf wasn't configured correctlymrfree wrote:This release is *extremly* faster than the previous for me, and rotation works like a charm. Yes, I have! I'm running gentoo-sources-2.6.18-r2 and beryl-0.1.2. But I use nvidia-drivers-1.0.9629 (and have other problems, see aboveeealex wrote:Anyone got beryl works in the new stable kernel (2.6.18, r2)? I cannot get beryl (0.1.1, 0.1.2) working in that kernel but 2.6.17-r2. I am getting something GLXFBConfig error in the new kernel.
Though I don't have need to use 2.6.18 anyway.
By the way I am on Intel 855GM with AIGLX... Thanks in advance

Sure with ATI, but with xgl.R!tman wrote:Yes, I have! I'm running gentoo-sources-2.6.18-r2 and beryl-0.1.2. How did you switch from 2.6.17 to 2.6.18? If you used "make oldconfig" you better check that manually. This borked my config up completly.eealex wrote:Hi R!tman,R!tman wrote:Yes, I have! I also have the Nvidia 9629 + gentoo-sources-2.6.18-r1. Working perfectly on single monitor (I don't have any twinview or like) for my desktop. However I am not sure what have changed in the 2.6.18 kernel. both beryl 0.1.1 and 0.1.2 works OK on 2.6.17 sources...
Anyway hope this can be a reference and would be great if someone can suggest the solution
I first copy my .config to the new folder, and thenR!tman wrote:How did you switch from 2.6.17 to 2.6.18? If you used "make oldconfig" you better check that manually. This borked my config up completly.
Code: Select all
# make menuconfig <-- To make sure some new options are OK
# make && make modules_install
My personal experience is the visual effect works amazingly (on both my Nvidia 6200 and i855GM/AIGLX), and all those windows users are just envious on this...paul.marsh wrote:Hello everyone,

Cheers for bringing the new release to our attention nesl247. And thanks to everyone for their discussion, which helped me troubleshoot my issues.

all too trueit is not uncommon that it hangs the whole machine. sometime I can just ssh into the machine and kill X, but sometime I have to push the reset button
