you need to change the colordepth to 24 (xorg.conf). had the same problem, was on 16, set it on 24 and it workedsirtalon42 wrote:Quake won't launch for me, I get this errorUT2004 works fine on max everything so I know my card is working, I don't have Doom3 so I don't know if that would work. I found a reference to SDL_SetVideoMode failed: Couldn't find matching GLX visual using google and it said to set r_colorbits "16" in my config (it was for Quake3), I tried doing that (worth a shot) but no change. I hope I don't have to reboot everytime I want to play Quake (in addition to FEAR)***SNIPPED***

i have a different problem: i got two monitors, and in fullscreen q4 gets centered over those two.. (both have a half), how do i get it to the left monitor only? (q3 works fine. i am using nvidia twinview).
due to that matter i've been running the game in windowed mode and 1280x1024 :> and i like it, you easily can switch to other windows.. but would like to have a solution to it anyway as it might be smoother to play (need to check that)
