And he seemed to get it running, he said to grab it from icculus cvs.
I grabbed it off CVS... didnt compile, missing buildengine files.. So I grabbed buildengine of icculus cvs as well and put it in the right place.
Didn't compile, complain about max lengt exceeded. I browsed some files and found that it should compile on gcc 2.95. So I emerged gcc 2.95. buildengine compiled fine. Duke3d compiled fine after that.
Now I put in the user.con, game.con, defs.con and duke3d.grp. I started duke3d... It complained about not having LOOKUP.DAT.
I copied LOOKUP.DAT as well from duke... It now kinda started, I got a black screen for a while, which after a while returned me to my terminal.
It said: missing E1L1.map. I doublechecked duke3d.grp.. Twas there. So I extracted that file on another machine in Windows and copied all files back. Still same error.
Turned out that the files are actually called E1L1.MAP and not E1L1.map. I renamed them. Now i get a black screen from which it doesn't quit anymore. If I go to another console and kill it, it kills off whole KDE with it.
Hmmz... not working like it should for now. Guess we'll have to be patient.
