I'm getting what sounds like the same problem. KDE crashes on logout; problem started when I installed xfree-drm. Unlike speeddemon I've a desktop system (still Radeon 7500) and I did convince DRI to work. It's definitely a hard lockup; ctrl-alt-bs doesn't do anything. I didn't notice anything unusual in the XFree86 log either, although I'm going to perform a few more tests to see if I can isolate it more before I give up on the problem.cold_flame wrote:have u tried pressing alt-ctl-backspace as hard logout of X? because then you will know whether it is a hard lock or just X crashing
for a while X would crash on me at logout, and the only way to finish the shutdown was to kill it using that shortcut. at least this will lower down your options.
(check out ur/var/log/XFree86.log for any clues too)
