Post by OneOfOne » Wed Apr 07, 2004 5:21 pm

this is mainly a sync to -mm2, added supermount, orinico, Con's Autoswappiness, and Nick's VM work (NOT the scheduler).

Moved from Other Things Gentoo. All kernel topics should now go the Kernel & Hardware forum.

Sorry if this question has already been asked (and I'm sure it has), but why aren't love-sources in the portage tree?

[edit] Oh, and does the IteRaid support work in 64 bit mode (Athlon64)?

Check the forums for poll on love-sources being in portage. You'll find everything you need there.

I'm not sure if IteRaid support works in 64bit mode. Alas, I can not test it. If you had a spare AMD64 lying around, I'd be glad to test it for you (hint hint)
Rationality is the recognition of the fact that nothing can alter the truth and nothing can take precedence over that act of perceiving it.

Hi,
Just thought I'd point out that they've updated the (often dodgy) udf packet writing patch, at http://w1.894.telia.com/~u89404340/patches/packet/2.6/

Cheers,
James

Well after applying the scsi patch everything is working fine. I did however notice something slighly odd just before I upgraded to this kernel. I was running 2.6.5-love1 and the system had been up for a few hours (just normal usage) when I noticed that the performace was really bad. I ran top to try and get to the bottom of it and noted that pdflush a root owned process was taking about 98% of the cpu time I left it for a while to see if it would fix itself, It did not. Anyone know what caused this ?

Well im gonna try and run this new kernel for a bit see if the same thing happens.

Code: Select all

It mentions here that there is alcatel speedtouch support. I can't find it anywhere!?

I am transfering my settings from love1-2.6.2_rc1 (manually through xconfig) and I can't find it anywhere... I have even searched the config file through a text editor to see if its there... no luck..

Any help would be great =)

I'm still waiting (sitting tight at 2.6.5_rc1-love2) for the return of Nick's scheduler. Is there an ETA on that? (trying not to be a whiny user picking on the hardworking kernel devs)

Nick's scheduler will be in the next release. I'm working on it as we speak.

This are good news Steel:-) The kernel works fine...but I don't get the feeling of performance as it was with Nick Sched..in 2.6.5-rc1-love2.
but maybe I'm wrong...

The driver have always been in usb devices, this is simply an update.
It depends on both USB and ATM support.
one more thing, it doesnt work on > 2.6.5-rc1 nor hotplug > 20040105, could you try and tell me if it works or not? modem_run goes D state.

2.6.5-love3 aka "Your Tea Is Ready Mrs Onassis" is available at http://www.public.iastate.edu/~jpcox/

The only things that have changed is the addition of Nick's Scheduler and the scsi fix. Download and enjoy the Nick goodness.

Great work guys! Just to know, is there any reason the iteraid patch was taken out in the last releases?

Tnx,
