I see that the 2.5 kernel has options for including alsa, mayber even compiling it into the kernel. Has anyone else ever tried that ? Does it work ? |

I use kernel 2.5.54 with alsa (compile in kernel or module) w/o any problems. |

The only problem I have come accross is installing ALSA user space programs.
The alsa libraries needed to compile user-space programs rely on the alsa-driver (modules) whcih cannot be compiled correctly, as you have ALSA installed directly into your kernel (or indeed as modules. |
