I am using and aureal card with the au8830 driver as a module, and no ALSA. Sound works fine for xmms and other programs. But when using xine, I only get sound for like 10 seconds then it cuts out and keeps playing the movie just fine. I've tried playing around with xine settings with no luck.
Has any one else experienced this or have any idea how to fix it? Thanks |

My soundcard is different (I use i810_audio module), and the problem is not quite the same. I'm using alsa.
Occasionally, when a movie is playing, and I perform other tasks (varies), the sound will stop but the movie will continue. Hitting pause, then play a couple times corrects the problem.
I'm not worried about my problem, since it usually doesn't happen and is easy to fix.
For me Xine seams to prefer the kernel sound, but every mp3 player I've tried won't work properly without alsa (I don't like Xine as an mp3 player).
I can't give any definitive solutions, but you might consider trying alsa. Alternatively you could try a different video player: mplayer (I don't like it but many do) or ogle (IMO, a good choice. I prefer Xine, but mainly for aesthetic reasons). |
