I'm in the very same situation, I've added >net-nds/openldap-2.1.31 until I can find a way around this.

I saw something recently in GWN about this and tried to get ready for it, but am still trying to repair my system.

ldbm is gone from openldap now from what I can tell.

My sound system is working for the most part on this board.

I have always gotten an error no such file or directory when using aoss or artsdsp but it works fine other than that

in /etc/modules.d/alsa

I have the same problems when running Skype with the wrapper.

Do you really need the artsdsp? I run Skype without it now and it runs just fine.

Well i've been tinkering with the samba configuration and found that removing the valid users line allowed me to connect through both smbclient and a windowsxp workstation.

If you use want to auth samba against pam_ldap then remove all ldap refs from your samba config and set it up as if there was no ldap - pam takes care of ldap.

However, if you want samba to bypass pam (which is probably a better idea) and auth directly against ldap, then leave your ldap refs in ...

I have a 2004.3 Gentoo box. I've successfully set it up with OpenLDAP, pam_ldap, and nss_ldap using the gentoo ldap howto . I have emerged samba and would like for it to authenticate users using pam_ldap. I am having trouble with this setup.

what about your logs? does anything pop up when you try to change passwords the first time around? sounds to me like the first passwd change attempt is failing so it's reprompting with a different system.
