strange https err w/ kde3.4 ( split ebuilds )

So, I'm trying to d/l some software ( darwin streaming server ), using konqueror 3.4, I go to the main site:

http://developer.apple.com/darwin/projects/streaming/


Then I navigate down to the link that has the zip'd source, under 'Source Code' ( Streaming Server 5.0.3 ), which takes me to the following url:

http://www.opensource.apple.com/project ... _0_3_2.zip


But that site fails with the following:

An error occurred while loading http://www.opensource.apple.com/projects/streaming/release/DSS-v5_0_3_2.zip:

The process for the https://daw.apple.com protocol died unexpectedly.

Huh???

Other https/ssl sites work fine, but whenever I go to https://daw.apple.com , I get that error.

Any ideas even of where I should begin looking to solve this?

( I used another gentoo pc running kde 3.3 and the site works fine )

I had the same issue couldn't figure it out for the longest time. On a hunch I enabled all of the SSL ciphers in the crypto tab of the Konqueror settings. This resolved the issue for me, this really falls on the konqueror development team from what I see, poor error reporting, if this fixes your problem you might want to file a kde bug.

Actually, it looks like KDE 3.4.1 fixed this for me. I noticed the issue stopped occurring right after I upgraded; I believe I did make a bug report... but I don't recall precisely.

I had forgotten to add a SOLVED to the thread, which I'll go ahead and do now.


What version of KDE are you using? Did you see this with 3.4.1?
