System freeze prob

Hi all, my system recently often freezes and gets no responding any more. I have to reboot over and over again. I looked up the /var/log/messages file, the output indicated the kernel was the culprit, but I have no idea about what's wrong with it. Here's the excerpt of the /var/log/messages:

Bingo!
emerging kdebase-startkde-3.5.10-r4 worked!
Now I have KDE3.5 back, but it's some kind of hybrid, menu has been wiped out, quick launcher icons deleted etc.
I think now I do need downgrade all 4.1.2 packages back to 3.5.10 and later when I decide to have KDE 4 as well will make that ...

Have you checked the /etc/X11/Sessions directory, kde-3.5 and kde-4.1 should both exist if you installed two slots.

Or you can place a kde-3.5 file in it, here's my:

Code: Select all

#!/bin/sh
exec /usr/kde/3.5/bin/startkde

Hi, truc. Currently I am on my summer vocation, thus I'm not available at my Gentoo box of my college dorm.
However, I tried the same ~/.bashrc profile and ~/.aliasrc setting in my home archlinux system, the screen works pretty well, and I can see the echo line appended in ~/.aliasrc.

app-misc/screen ignores alias setting

I have a bunch of alias setting in my .aliasrc file, and append

Code: Select all

source ~/.aliasrc
to the .bashrc.

However, the screen app seems to ingore all of these aliases, I cannot use 'em in screen. Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this ?

Best Regards.

Or you can give a shot on scim-python, provided by gentoo-china overlay.

Oak, you can try the 'iPod' -> 'Update Artwork' under 'Device' tab if your iPod doesnt show the coverart set in Amarok. Anyway it's supposed to be updated automatically with Amarok as you've upgraded the libgpod to the latest version.
