Well, 5.0 uses libfuse and a standard loop device instead of dm like 4.3. I would imagine this might be a bit slower? I'll bet, though, that the crypto stuff will bottleneck your cpu first. luks might be faster than both of them. benchmark and see.

5.0 will not build on amd64 without typedef fixes.

I doubt 5.0 volumes are openable with 4.3 because of the new XEX key handling mode, which is the major new crypto feature in 5.0. If the user has to forgo XEX to make hidden volumes, then he might as well stay with 4.3a for now...or create his volume in windows (if that works, I haven't tried ...

There are some rather annoying regressions in Truecrypt 5.0.

1. linux version cannot create hidden volumes. !!!?
2. the command line 'mount options' only accepts a few parameters, but the dialog box input accepts any option. I had to look at the code to figure out why my cmdline scripts weren't ...

I'm not 100% positive but I think these patches have been introduced upstream, maybe you can test and see if this snapshot will build with gcc-4.3 without using the fixinline use, if it works, then ill remove the use from the ebuild. Well, I would, but I still get errors during a gcc 4.3 build on ...

The ebuild still references it. I disabled the 'fixinline' useflag that triggers it and glibc seems to build ok. I'm using gcc 4.2 however.

I hate to bump an older thread, but I too am having the same problem, except with an 80x50 textmode console. mDNS only I believe, but check your sniffer..or you could try explicitly connecting to a known itunes host and see if that works. The iptables 'ttl' match and target features should do the trick.

something like:
iptables -t mangle -A FORWARD -i $EXT_ETH -o $INT_ETH -m ttl --ttl-eq 1 -j TTL --ttl ...

I suspect it has to do with the overlay support. I disabled 'renderaccel' in my xorg.conf and konqueror starts up and runs fine. Otherwise, it's a hard lock the second I start it and the window appears. I guess we wait for a patch from xorg/nvidia.

IIRC, itunes multicast 'discovery' packets have TTL set to 1, so your router would not foward them even if it was set up correctly. Caveat: I have no direct experience with itunes, so I am not sure. You 'might' be able to pull off some iptables trickery to get them forwarded to your subnet anyway.

I'm having these issues as well after upgrading to 6.8.2 (I tried cvs too). These errors have to do with the nvidia X video driver module, not the kernel module, so recompiling that will not fix anything. I guess xorg changed some of the internals around and we'll probably have to wait for a new ...

Well I suspect its kernel<-->nvidia related. the same xorg install works fine with older kernels. I am already running 6.8.0-r1.

I tried damouse's r3 build.
The module loads alright, but I get "(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to allocate config DMA context" when I try to start Xorg. I spent some time with the source but wasn't able to get real far. Out of my league I guess. Any ideas?

Earlier kernels have been working fine.
