I am still playing the devil trying to get all of this to work. Windows was even tested out on this machine and is still getting some errors.. but I have replaced almost everything on the system in order to hunt this down with no luck.. I still agree with you, it is Hardware!

e1000 card problems

I have a relatively new Gentoo install that I am using as a router (Home Router Guide), also as a Samba server. I wanted a good network card for it so I got an Intel Gigabit card.
00:0b.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82541PI Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 05)
I compiled in the e1000 ...

IRQ handler mismatch error

I have an old Dell server (some horrific serverworks mb and an old 2.4Ghz chip on it) that I am using as a NFS server. Basically... 2 promise cards and lots of HDs.

In dmesg I get this: Linux agpgart interface v0.101 (c) Dave Jones

The only F4 I see in there is "Open Terminal" which sounds right to me. I do not see a "Open Root Terminal" in there.. which is what seems to be happening.

Thanks for the thought.. any other ideas?

Konqueror/Konsole question [SOLVED]

Hello all

I have a stupid Konqueror/Konsole question:

I often like to use the F4 feature in Konqueror's file browser mode to bring up a Konsole so that I can quickly do a little console work in the directory. I was playing the other day with the default profiles in Konsole and I must have messed ...

thanks for the tip.. but after 3 years, I figured it was time for a re-install anyway. When I got it all up, it compiled just fine. So something was messed up somewhere along the way.

Thanks again though

Rikai, thanks for letting me look at your script.. it is HUGE 8O but it seems very thorough. One question about it, you said to put it in init.d and run it at the default level, do you NOT run iptables then? right now I have iptables at the default level. Thanks again.

Hello all

I have just followed the home router setup and I am EXCITED! I am replacing ClarkConnect with this and all seems to be going fine.

I have a few questions if someone does not mind taking the time to answer. But first off.. a small rant about this process. I have been using Linux now for ...

Wine should compile cleanly on amd64 with no patches. The only patch I use is for WoW. I have no idea what is causing your problems, and I don't have any issues like that during compile. Have you tried revdep-rebuild to make sure all other libs are updated correctly?
I was excited when I read your ...

Problems compiling Wine on AMD64 [Solved by reinstalling]

I have read everywhere I can reasonably find and have not seen anyone with my error, so now I ask you, my fellow AMD64ers if you have any clue why I cannot compile Wine. I also tried to ask this question on the end of someone else having compile issues in wine, but to no answer... that is what I get ...

Now wine has compiled cleanly, and I'll give it a try tonight.
I am really glad you got yours to compile Timers2k.. so now, since I am on AMD64 and cannot compile wine, I will "hijack" this thread to see if anyone has any ideas why mine will not compile. I have version 0.9.6 installed through ...

Did you leave the OCHI support to kernel?

The idea is to get USB2 support to load firts and then the USB1 support after that. That can be made sure by leaving USB2 to kernel and compiling USB1 support as module.

Not completely understanding here, but I took a stab at it.

Re: DDR400 and AMD64 question [ANSWERED]

You can put different types of RAM in the slots, but then you loose the dual channel mode and lots of speed.
You need to fill the slots two by two with identical modules. But the two pairs can be different (ie 2*512MB + 2*1GB). You also need to fill the slots in a certain order (ie do not leave ...

Try compiling HCD (usb1) support as module and see if that helps
Unfortunately, that did not work. Everything is now as a module and I still get this:

drivers/usb/core/inode.c: creating file 'devices'
drivers/usb/core/inode.c: creating file '001'

Hardware upgrade - now USB problems

I have just updated my hardware to a nforce4 chaintech board and I am now having issues with my USB Brother laser printer 5040.
