you should read the manual about this. If you want a stage 3 installation, download the Maximal LiveCD.
If you want to install gentoo using stage 1 or 2 however, the minimal will suffice.

It seems you have mutiple HDs then? Change the order in which they boot in your BIOS, setting your gentoo disk first.

On one of my computers, the liveCD recognized my sATA disk as /dev/sda1. However, when finishing the installation and wanting to boot into my new system, I got a similar error. Looking at the grub console I found out sda1 had become -strangely enough- hde4!. Maybe you want to explore that a bit?

Could you give the layout of your disk (partitions etc), as well as your grub config file?

You got the wireless tools installed as well?
I think the drivers of ipw 2100 are also on portage, so maybe get them that way, in case you did something wrong.

I've some small issues with my Openbox WM, hopefully you guys can help me :)
- when selecting themes, only the Openbox menu changes. When starting e.g. Firefox, it has its usual dull theme. Anything can be done about this?
- how does one start extra applications on starting Openbox? I'm thinking ...

And how do you leave them out?
When generating the file using the config-script, I can't skip that section.
